Melamine

Melamine is an engineered wood product which contains Melamine, a chemical compound, and resins, giving it fire retardant and pesticide properties.

Thermally-Fused Melamines (TFM) are available in any substrate including particleboard, MDF and Fibrex® (thin HDF). Specialty items include VESTA (no added urea-formaldehyde resin), as well as moisture resistant (MR) and fire-rated (FR) particleboard or MDF.

Gone are the days when TFM only came in white, grey or almond. Now accessible in any colour, wood grain and abstract or stone-like pattern available in HPL. Because of this, TFM is increasingly specified for casework, worktops and even wall paneling in hospitality, health care, retail, food service, corporate, and other applications. TFM is a perfect alternative for veneers, metals, and other materials.

IPB – Industrial Grade Particleboard Panels

Also known as “chipboard”, IPB is engineered from wood particles such as wood chips, saw dust or shavings. Particleboard is more uniform and denser than typical wood or plywood, thus making it perfect for projects requiring a stable, economical substrate that will be surfaced with a decorative overlay - a veneer or laminate.

MDF Panels

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is comprised of small wood particles (that have been further refined than in particleboard), wax and a binding agent, pressed together to form sheets. The product is a smoother surface and more homogeneous core than particleboard. Perfect for applications that will be finished with paint, lacquer or thinner decorative overlays.

High Density Fiberboard (HDF)

No Added Urea Formaldehyde (NAUF) MDF

Flakeboard also manufacturers VESTA, a specialty MDF panel manufactured using a no added urea-formaldehyde (NAUF) resin system. VESTA is made with 100% recycled and/or recovered wood fiber, and is an EPP environmental certified product, making it the optimal choice for additional LEED points.

VESTA is available in fire-rated (FR) and a wide range of thicknesses and dimensions, and can be raw, thermally-fused melamine (TFM) or wear resistant (WRM) finished with your choice of design from the Flakeboard collection.
